André du Bouchet
André du Bouchet co-founded, with Jacques Dupin, Michel Leiris, & Paul Celan, the journal L'ephémère in the 1960s. Among his numerous books of poetry are Sans couvercle (GLM, 1953), Dans la chaleur vacante (Mercure de France, 1961; translated by David Mus as Where Heat Looms, Sun & Moon, 1996), Ou le soleil (Mercure de France, 1968), Dans leur voix les eaux (Maeght, 1980). A selection of his poems was translated by Paul Auster as The Uninhabited (Living Hand, 1976; reprinted in Paul Auster: Translations, Marsilio, 1997). du Bouchet has also translated the work of Mandelstam & Celan. Additonal work can be found in Crosscut Universe: Writing on Writing from France (ed. Norma Cole, Burning Deck (Serie d'Ecriture #13/14), 2000). He died in 2000.
