Pierre Joris

Pierre Joris is a noted translator as well as a poet. His collections of poetry include Winnetou Old, & Breccia: Selected Poems 1974-1986. He has translated work by Maurice Blanchot, Edmond Jabès, Kurt Schwitters, & Paul Celan among many others. With Jerome Rothenberg he edited the monumental two-volume Poems for the Millennium: The University of California Book of Modern & Postmodern Poetry. His Notes Towards a Nomadic Poetics was published by Spanner in 1999, an online version of which can be found at http://www.albany.edu/~joris.

He currently teaches at SUNY Albany.
