Attica
A long car turns
into the short
fresh blacktop
A family gets in to go
one boy & one tomboy
"The farmhouses are
gaunt and sad."
We're strangers
but no stranger than
the hall where we stand
foolish, without purpose
What will happen has
happened already
The men have been
stripped and marched
separated by white guards
according to
what they have done
We, suckers, still stuck
in the hallway
will have to watch
and watch again.
Keeping the dream.
